Welcoming Yamatoten Abura Soba in Bandung

Finally we’re welcoming Yamatoten Abura Soba in Bandung. Yes, they are originally from Tokyo. Open 5 branches in Jakarta-Indonesia and then Bandung, my hometown.  They claim to be the best abura soba in Tokyo and i’m super curious to taste it.

Located at jl Pajajaran no 43 Bandung, this is the only branch in Bandung. The place has warm ambience,  simple and casual. I like that light touch of japanese decoration.

They have 12 main menu consist of mostly noodles and some rice dishes. Also 8 side dishes.  The waiter recommend the top three most popular dishes and i’m craving to taste that famous egg so i choose Karami Ontama Abura Soba. Kindly note that the menu have halal and non halal version.  You can explain it to the waiter and they will give recommendation.

Abura Soba means oil noodles or thick noodles serve with vegetable oil and some optional addition such as bamboo shot (non halal), onion, egg, chicken and many more.  And also you will have to add vinegar and chili oil when the noodle come and just mix it while it’s hot. Abura Soba originated from Kitatama District, Tokyo since early 1950. Now abura soba has many popular chain and one of it is Yamatoten Abura Soba which launced since 2011.

The important thing they emphasize is how to eat abura soba properly. So when the noodle come, put 2 rounds of vinegar and 2 rounds of chili oil and mix everything.  You can adjust the taste by adding some more.

I’m telling you this is absolutely delicious. That egg just melted when i touch it and together with all the seasoning make this noodle so flavourful. Before i eat it i was ready to accept any kind of strange taste but turn out it suits my Indonesian tongue. And i bet you will agree with me because i’m actually very “ndeso” as my fave food is indonesian food.

Karami Ontama Abura Soba IDR 72k

Karami Ontama Abura Soba has 2 choices spicy or extra spicy and i choose extra spicy. This menu consist of abura soba with spicy miso sauce, served with half boiled egg, chopped spring onion, dried seaweed and slices of tender roast chicken. Here’s how i love my noodle seasoned :

After  i add vinegar and chili oil, mix it and taste, i put 3 spoon of chili and it’s perfect. I love spicy food and i’m a big fan of chili. I didn’t try anything else, because the portion of the noodle is so big, though i successfully finish it.  Can’t wait to go back, already craving for abura soba and that gyoza.
